01 / THE STAKE
Public data creates transparency only when people can find it, connect it, and understand what it says.
02 / DATA LIFECYCLE
Many records.
One explorable model.
- 01COLLECT
- 02NORMALIZE
- 03CONNECT
- 04EXPLORE
Procurement records are gathered from public sources into one ingestion flow.
Dates, values, authorities, companies, and identifiers are shaped consistently.
Tenders and awards become linked records instead of isolated documents.
Search and filters expose spending, participants, values, and history.
03 / KEY DECISIONS
Trust begins with
traceable data.
Preserve the source record
Normalized fields stay connected to the public record they came from.
- TRADE-OFF
- The model must retain both source-specific detail and a common shape.
- REJECTED
- Replacing source context with a simplified copy of the data.
Normalize around questions
The model makes authorities, suppliers, values, dates, tenders, and awards consistently explorable.
- TRADE-OFF
- Ambiguous or incomplete source values need explicit handling.
- REJECTED
- Indexing raw documents without a shared procurement model.
Design the read path first
Search and exploration needs determine how records are indexed and related.
- TRADE-OFF
- The read model adds another representation of the underlying data.
- REJECTED
- Making the interface query ingestion tables directly.
04 / THE EXPLORER
Documents become
questions people can ask.
The interface organizes procurement activity around the entities and values people need to investigate.

Who is buying
Who received the award
How much was committed
How activity changes over time
05 / RESULT
Procurement activity became easier to search and connect.
Symvaseis.cy brings tenders and awarded contracts into a common exploration layer, giving people clearer paths through authorities, companies, award values, and historical activity.
WHAT I’D CHANGE
Expose data quality as part of the product.
I’d make source freshness, normalization confidence, and incomplete fields more visible, helping visitors understand not only the record but the quality of the evidence behind it.
